Significant route delays continue!

Some JANUARY ROUTES ARE STILL BEING COLLECTED: The collection contractor is working cleanup on various daily routes that were not completed on time. Please place cart out on scheduled collection day and allow up to 5 additional days for collection.

On Tuesday, February 3, drivers are still working on areas of the following routes from last week:

4^th Monday, January 26^th (all but 1 sub route completed)

4^th Tuesday, January 27^th

Some drivers will begin their 4^th Wednesday, January 28th routes today as they finish 4^th Tuesday routes. After drivers have completed their 4^th Monday, 4^th Tuesday, and 4^th Wednesday routes, they will begin the February 1^st week routes. We apologize for this long delay.

A lengthy list of reported misses are also being worked on daily.

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: LOOSE IN CART – NO GARBAGE BAGS PLEASE!

#1 and #2 Narrow Neck Plastic Bottles (No other plastics or bags)
Aluminum & Steel Cans (no miscellaneous metals)
Paper
Flattened Cardboard

ANY OTHER Household garbage should go in green garbage carts or to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility @ 1055 A Cleaner Way, Huntsville, AL 35805.

What is RANA?

The Recycling Alliance of North Alabama (RANA) is a division of the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of the City of Huntsville (SWDA). The RANA division will oversee and manage recycling projects for SWDA. RANA’s first mission was a new Curbside Recycling Program for all Madison County residents, including the cities and towns therein. This opt-in program will start August 1, 2019, with monthly curbside pickup. Residents must REGISTER/SIGN UP for this service.

The Recycling Collection Service Area will be extended to an additional 20,000 single family households located within Madison County that have historically been outside of the service area. Single Family Residents within the Madison County boundary, as well as City of Huntsville and City of Madison residents located in Limestone County, are all eligible to participate. This does not include residents located in rural Limestone County, outside of the annexed areas of City of Huntsville and/or City of Madison. Additionally, the RANA program does not provide curbside recycling service to commercial or multi-family properties.

The most noticeable improvement will be the replacement of the 18-gallon bins with a much larger 95-gallon rolling carts. Moving to larger rolling carts will allow for automated collection by custom designed trucks which is much less labor intensive than the manual collection of the smaller bins.

Recycling continues to remain an integral part of our area’s solid waste management system. Revitalizing this program is another significant step in making the City of Huntsville, City of Madison and Madison County more sustainable places to live.

The Recycling Alliance of North Alabama (RANA) is an opt-in service funded by the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of the City of Huntsville.
